Jacob Olcott is currently Vice President of Communications & Government Relations for BitSight, a security ratings company. He oversees the company’s corporate communications, public affairs, and government initiatives. He has spent years working at the intersection of business and cyber risk. As legal and policy advisor on cybersecurity issues to the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee, he led an investigation with the Securities and Exchange Commission that resulted in the groundbreaking 2011 corporate guidance on cyber risk disclosure. He also served as Subcommittee Director at the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, where he led dozens of investigations and hearings into national cybersecurity policies involving critical infrastructure and economic espionage. Prior to BitSight, he managed a consulting firm advising Fortune 1000 executives and board members on cybersecurity governance and technology issues. He has served as an adjunct professor Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Virginia School of Law.
