    Cyber Risk Board Forum

    February 24th, 2020
    San Francisco, CA
In Partnership with the RSA® Conference

Cyber Beyond Security: Are You Ready?

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Aenean commodo ligula eget dolor. Aenean massa. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Donec quam felis, ultricies nec, pellentesque eu.

Cyber risk and user privacy are two of the most significant challenges every company faces now—and two of the most difficult risks to manage. The scale, frequency and impact of attacks continues to rise, and companies face increasing scrutiny and an increasingly complex patchwork of regulations in how they collect and manage personal information.

Regulators and investors are giving boards very clear directives to put these issues at the center of their enterprise risk management strategy. Now is the time to get smart on the latest developments, prepare yourself to ask the right questions and put in place the plans that will keep your company ahead of fast-moving developments.

The 2020 Cyber Risk Board forum is your opportunity to:

    • Personally engage with the world's top experts in cybersecurity and privacy
    • Learn about the next generation of emerging cyber threats -- before they strike
    • Understand the fast-moving regulatory landscape for privacy -- beyond GDPR
    • Assess risk with more confidence by asking management the right questions
    • Benchmark your company's performance against the best in the industry
    • Hear from the front-line on the most critical questions your board should be asking management

    8:45 am - 9:00 am

    Welcome

    9:00 am - 9:50 am

Boards and Cybersecurity-- A Forward-thinking Call to Action

A provocative conversation on how companies need to be thinking about the future of cybersecurity and data privacy.

    Keynote to be announced

    9:50 am - 10:40 am

    Dissecting a Data Breach

According to a 2018 Ponemon Institute report, the cost of a data breach involving 50 million records is estimated to be around $350 million dollars. We’ll dive into a front-page news case study to evaluate what happened, why it happened, and what we can learn from the company’s response.

We’ll walk through the hard questions your board should be asking about your company’s cyber preparedness and risk appetite--and if your control environment is in alignment with the level of risk you believe you have accepted for both your own data and your customers’ and partners’ data. Lastly, we’ll also evaluate the cyber insurance landscape so you can better understand your organization’s true exposure to direct and indirect costs associated with a potential breach--and be aware of pivotal exclusions.

    10:40 am - 11:00 am

    Networking Break

    11:00 am - 11:50 am

How Resilient is Your Company? -- 4 Steps to Bolster Your Business Continuity Plan

IT isn't just the computer on your desk, the laptop in your bag, or the smart phone in your pocket. IT is controlling who is and isn't entering your building--virtually and physically, how and where your customers are being treated, driving your production line, and more. IT keeps you open for business, but if you're not careful it can close you down for good. Most business continuity plans cover fire and theft, as well as crisis management if your product fails in production. But far too many don’t cover a cyber attack.

In the face of a cyber attack, a solid business continuity plan (BCP) is more important than ever. Minimizing downtime is critical and, when it comes to cybersecurity, best practices are evolving rapidly. This session will review the key elements of a strong business continuity plan -- from building a list of business continuity risks to identifying stakeholders and their responsibilities to worst case scenario testing and planning -- and how a strong plan can be a proactive tool in your cyber security efforts.

And since the SEC Cybersecurity Guidance cleary states that business continuity is a priority, you better be prepared for an audit.

    11:50 am - 12:20 pm

    Peer Collaboration

Attendees will be divided into small peer groups to discuss experiences, challenges and solutions with fellow directors.

    12:20 pm - 1:00 pm

    Networking Lunch

    1:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Blockchain and Cyryptocurrencies-- Antidote or Kryptonite?

Fueled in part by the rise of bitcoin, cryptocurrency and other blockchain applications are intriguing… but complicated, particularly when it comes to potential new enterprise risks. In a spring 2019 report by Check Point, the three biggest cybersecurity threats were all cryptocurrency miners. But many market blockchain as the antidote to cybersecurity. This presentation will explore how companies in different industries are using blockchain technology in their cybersecurity efforts, and highlight the cyber strengths and weaknesses to consider.

    1:30 pm - 2:15 pm

Beyond Compliance-- Making Data Privacy a Competitive Differentiator

In the age of increasing regulations--and increasing consumer awareness--building a leading-class data privacy strategy is critical to companies across industries. If not handled properly, mismanaged data could result in data theft, which in return can result in company brand reputational damage, financial loss, loss of market value, loss of customer and partner confidence, and litigation or regulatory action.

This session will share tips to build a sustainable data privacy and governance strategy. We’ll dive into privacy by design and how to embed privacy considerations throughout the lifecycle of a project. And we’ll explore the role executives and board members play in supporting, and being held accountable for, data privacy.

    2:15 pm - 3:00 pm

Cyber Resiliency From the Inside Out

According to a 2018 report by Risk Based Security, of the 5 billion records stolen/compromised, over 2 billion were a result of insider circumstances. Human-caused cyber incidents proliferate in companies that fail to set clear expectations and hold their employees accountable for cybersecurity behavior. We’ll showcase what an effective employee cyber training program entails and explore how to implement performance management, employee communication strategies and culture initiatives to minimize employee missteps that could make the company vulnerable to unseen cyber threats.

    3:00 pm - 3:20 pm

    Networking Break

    3:20 pm - 3:40 pm

Cyber Talent-- How Much Will That Cost You?

Digital talent is in hot demand, and it’s a competitive market. 90% of organizations report challenges in attracting and retaining digital talent, and cyber specialists in particular are in high demand. Without the right cyber savvy talent, your organization could be vulnerable. So what should you consider in your recruitment efforts -- what job functions and skillsets are most critical? This session will share recruitment, compensation and retention strategy trends to consider for this increasingly important position.

    3:40 pm - 4:00 pm

The Human Factor-- How Directors May Put Their Companies at Risk

Board members are, in most cases, outside the company firewall. How do board members ensure security of their personal data and avoid putting the company at risk? This session will share tips on protecting directors’ email, safeguarding board communications and other potential vulnerabilities.

    4:00 pm - 4:50 pm

Leaning in on Cyber: Insights from CISOs

The CISO can be the board’s best friend in the war on cyber. Always an attendee favorite, we’ll conclude the day with a panel of Chief Information Security Officers sharing what they wish the board knew -- from staying out of the weeds and making sense of analytics to IoT security and supply chain partner considerations. Hear from the frontline the most critical questions your board should be asking about the company’s cyber security and data privacy strategies.

    4:50 pm - 5:00 pm

Cyber Risk isn’t just about hacking anymore. It’s about seismic shifts in the regulatory landscape impacting every aspect of business data. It’s a radical revision of customer privacy expectations. It’s nation-state actors infiltrating and manipulating the world’s top brands for geopolitical influence. And it’s about unparallelled opportunity for those who master new business models faster than their rivals.

The year ahead promises the most profound, complex changes at the intersection of business and technology in history—changes that will require smarter, savvier decision-making by every public companyboard member.

    ·  Emerging regulation that could challenge all facets of digital business

    ·  Changing privacy expectations and their impact on governance
